Could architecture increase people’s proximity to nature? Generating a temporary halt in life to reflect and connect, bettering values and respect towards ecology. A long-term rippling effect could be a statement of how we can live harmoniously with nature and what could be lost, should we choose to do nothing in the way of preserving the tranquil land we coincide with.

Mushroom Tales Pavilion, a speculative design concept that connects communities together with nature. Mimicking the mycelium networks communicating beneath us, the explorative and imaginative structures take inspiration from the site Wild Woodbury. Using the biomaterial made of mycelium, the story telling structures and interactive experience will assist in reducing Co2 levels, educating users on the climate crisis while encouraging them to rekindle their creativity and sense of wonder in nature.

In collaboration with the National Trust and Activate Dorset, the structures are designed not only as works of art but also as spaces for diverse contemporary performance practices, including dance, theatre and outdoor arts such as live art, physical theatre, digital arts, and puppetry. Activate Dorset seeks to use art as a means to engage people with natural spaces and creatively tell stories in a unique and immersive way.
